2017 New Years Resolutions 

Happy New Year everyone! 2016 has finally come to a close, and despite how it went for you, there’s nothing left to do now but power on. Personally I am really looking forward to 2017, and hope to make it the best year of my life. I’m completely free from school, have a solid job, and am ready to get started on my “real” life. So here are some of my promises to myself to fulfil in the next twelve months. I know these lists are cheesy and aribitry, but I still do them.

1. Lose 50 pounds

I know, I know. My first resolution is to lose weight? How shallow. And I would be lying if I said that it was a completely non-appearance based decision, but it’s not just that. Losing 50 lbs means exercise, and exercise is what I need to do if I want to meet some other goals. I was to become stronger. I hate feeling like I’m weak and vulnerable. I want to have higher endurance so that climbing to my third floor apartment doesn’t leave me completely winded. Sure I want to look better in a dress, and would love if my thighs didn’t rub so much, but there’s more to it. I also just feel more confident when I working out, even before the weight starts to come off.

2. Get 200 subscribers

3. Get 1000 views on a new video

Another seemingly shallow resolution, but again, this is just another number given to a larger and more complex goal. Basically I just want to get back to making regular videos, engaging with other people and creators, and work on building a channel that brings people together.  A community of sorts. I want to work on the quality of my videos to, and increasing subscribers and views is a way to see that tangibly. I’ve got a lot of work to do, with only 30 subscribers and very patchy viewing patterns, but I do love making content and these goals will keep me honest.

4. Read 52 books

Now that I’m not in school and constantly reading textbooks and academic articles, I should actually have time to read for fun! I love reading, but doing readings for school left me with a fatigue that took the relaxation and escapism away from it. It just felt like more work and I wanted to get away from the feeling when I could. But now, I’ve got no other reading commitments so it’s time to get back to it. I’m doing the Reading Challenge on GoodReads to keep track. I’ve already finished my first book of the year! (Buffering by Hannah Hart)
5. Write 52 blog posts

I love writing on this blog, but I tend to view too much like work. Something I need to set apart a lot of time to do, and something I need to have perfect concept and follow through on. Basically I took the fun out of it. So now I’m going to try to write at least one post a week. That means more reviews, life advice, and opinions. So get ready for that! I’m also bringing back the book club soon, so keep your eyes peeled!

So there is my plan for 2017. A lot of getting back to things I know I love, but have put on the back burner for other things.
